Ṣaḥīḥ li dhātihī

A ḥadīth is classed as a ṣaḥīḥ li dhātihī if it is a khabr wāḥid narrated:

  1. By a narrator who is considered ‘ādil (upright)
  2. With complete ḍabt (precision and accuracy)
  3. With a connected chain
  4. Which is not mu’allal[1] (defective)
  5. Nor is it shādh (rare)
