Mashḥūr

Definition of mashḥūr:[1] that which is narrated by a group of narrators.[2]


[1] Literally; famous, publicised, announced. 

[2]  Imām al-Ḥaramayn, al-Rāzī, al-Ghazālī, al-Āmādī, Ibn al-Ḥājib, Ibn al-Sā’atī and others have said the minimum number of narrators for a ḥadīth to be considered mashḥūr is four. However Ibn Ḥājar has said the minimum for mashḥūr is three narrators.
