Khabr āḥād can be categorised into the following types:

1. Ṣaḥīḥ^[1]
   1. Ṣaḥīḥ li dhātihī
   2. Ṣaḥīḥ li ghayrihī
2. Ḥasan^[2]
   1. Ḥasan li dhātihī
   2. Ḥasan li ghayrihī
3. Ḍaīf^[3]

^[1] Literally; healthy or sound. 

^[2] Literally: beautiful. 

^[3] Literally; weak.
