Benefits of Nahw

It is said;

Indeed the door to Nahw is made of iron, whilst its insides are embroidered with gold.

The science of Nahw at first can seem hard, however once its foundations are understood it becomes easy and enjoyable.

Benefits:

The science of Nahw is an extremely important topic. Some of its benefits include;

  1. Prevent mistakes in speaking and writing.
  2. Understand the Quran and Sunnah, and the implications it may have.

For example ayah number 6 from Surah Maedah;

O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles.

The above ayah can also be read with وَأَرْجُلِكُمْ i.e. the word has received a kasra instead of a dammah. This simple change in diacritical mark changes the meaning of the ayah to “and wipe your feet to the ankles”.

Likewise, there are many ayat of Quran, and narrations of hadith, in which the science of Nahw helps for its meanings to be made clear.

3. It helps keep the audience attentive.

Nahw has many benefits. It is said;

Nahw in speech, is like salt in food.

Meaning that Nahw beautifies speech, and adds flavour.
