The science of naḥw can seem hard at first; once its foundations are understood, however, it becomes easy and enjoyable.
Benefits
Among its benefits:
- It prevents mistakes in speaking and writing.
- It opens up the meanings of the Qurʾān and Sunnah, and the implications they carry.
Take āyah 6 of Sūrat al-Māʾidah:
The same āyah may also be read with وَأَرْجُلِكُمْ, the word taking a kasrah in place of a ḍammah. That single change in diacritical mark shifts the meaning to "and wipe your feet to the ankles".
Many other āyāt of the Qurʾān, and many narrations of ḥadīth, have their meanings clarified in just this way by the science of naḥw.
3. It holds the audience's attention.
